Santiago Weaver did Attleborough Boxing Club proud as he returned home from Rotherman with a National title! The 16 year old Thetford Academy 6th form student claimed his gold medal after beating Connor Taylor of Jimmy Egans Gym on a split points decision in The Junior Development Championship under 75 kg Final on Saturday 10th of October. Weaver started strong giving Taylor a standing 8 count with an over hand right in the first round, in a show of strength, he out powered the much taller opponent. Weaver stayed close working well on the inside throughout the 2nd and 3rd rounds. The young boxer was overjoyed as the MC announced his victory.
Head Coach Jon Dennis said ‘A National Title is a great achievement for Santiago and the club, Santiago has worked extremely hard, putting in many hours in the gym and has massive potential. We are now looking forward to the NABC’s where he will compete for a 2nd national title!
