Lily Becomes Double National Champion

After winning her first national title just a month ago Lily Devlin and the Team travelled up to Manchester to attempt to win the NABGCs National Championship. Lilys opponent was a good Southpaw boxer from Birmingham who started the contest very well catching Lily with some good shots and making things difficult in the ring for our girl. Lily continued to try and box and it wasn’t until very late in round 1 that she started to have some success and get the better of the exchanges, however despite the better ending it was her opponent who won the first round. After some advice from her coach and a drink of self belief !! The Robert Kemp Cars sponsored boxer came out for round 2 fully fired up and quickly started to turn the contest into her favour boxing closer to the way we know she is capable off. She had her midlands opponent in trouble with some great combinations causing the ref to step in to give a standing eight count. Lily continued this great display of dominating and attacking boxing ending the round very strongly with the sound of the bell saving her opponent. The punishment suffered in the second round took its toll and the boxer was retired from the contest giving a delighted Lily her second national title. Once again the hard work , dedication and commitment had all been worth it and the talent Lily possesses was clear to see , she had done herself and everyone proud.

Afterwards Lily commented “Hasn’t sunk in yet that I won two national titles in one year. Always been a dream of mine and I’ve never believed in my self to go and grab it. But this year I’ve done just that and grabbed two as a senior!! Massive thanks to all my team at Attleborough Boxing Club and a special Thankyou to Mel and Jon for being in my corner, constantly believing in me and for all the time they’ve put in to me without them it wouldn’t be possible. Many thanks to my sponsor Robert Kemp as without his support I couldn’t do this either. Few days rest and we start training again!”
