One Step Beyond For The Club

Last weekend saw 13 members of TeamABC attempt the hugely demanding physical challenge of walking 46.9 Miles in 24Hours along the National Trails coastal path from Hunstanton to Cromer assisted and supported all the way by another 3 members of the club.

Setting off from Hunstanton in fantastic sunshine at 10am the Team walked mile after mile taking in some brilliant scenery and glorious weather (of course they were let down in Holkham when the heavens opened for a short while). They endured ever changing terrain from road , marshland , dirt tracks , shingle and of course the sand !!.

Everyone remained positive , jovial and determined despite blisters forming , aches and pains which started about a 1/4 of the way into the challenge. The group stopped at various locations along the way to be met by the wonderful support team , who kept everyone watered and patched up the walking wounded and were there every minute of the way.

Approaching the halfway point and this incredible challenge was proved how difficult it would be when some really started suffering but walked on through the obvious pain (probably spurred on by the thought of the fish and chips at Wells!!) Despite the evening meal it could not revive 3 of the walkers as they sadly had to retire through sheer tiredness and injury.

The rest of the group donned their head torches as they now made their way into the fast approaching dusk and darkness. After another long and very tough stage the group was reduced even further when another four of the courageous walkers had to succumb to the extreme pain they were now feeling.

This left 6 members who somehow kept going (not fluently at times as the pain was obvious in their walking style!!). 18 hours after setting out and despite being physically and mentally drained they made it to the very end and stood on Cromer Pier.

What an amazing effort from the whole team with every member giving it everything and more , all for their Club.

We thank you ALL and to everyone that supported and sponsored them.

Thank you
